fugitive hawk in providence: part two

Also see: part one

Miraculously, I found this young hawk again today, still a few blocks from the RI State House, and still with leather straps around both ankles. It’s been 8 days since I last looked for him, so he could have flown anywhere he wanted by now. It was very nice to see him alive and well.

Perched on a lamppost, he spied something moving in the snowy bushes below… then he suddenly leaped down and I heard some sort of mammal screaming… it was sad to hear… I hoped it was a rat (who cares about rats, right?) but I soon saw the hawk had a rabbit in its talons… ugh. Yet, I’m happy that the lost hawk is able to hunt and survive on his own.
