When I don’t spot any raptors downtown, I sometimes walk over to the Rhode Island State House to look for the Red-tailed Hawks that often perch high up on the railing. Seeing one hawk up there is common – seeing the pair together is special – getting pictures of them on Independent Man is the best.

Saw an awesome aerial conflict where @ 4-5 crows were dive-bombing a cruising redtail at the intersection of Parade and Cranston St.’s. What made it particularly engaging was the brace of pigeon’s nervously patrolling the perimeter of the action just to see how things went down. The redtail was fairly unimpressed with the assault and simply held its’ course.

Hey, Peter! Loving the pics of hawks on the Independent Man! I used to live in RI until moving to Yosemite in 2005. A few years ago there was an effort to help peregrines in the park.
